About Me
Ivan Imshenetskyy
4th Year Finance Student
University of Calgary
I started making graphics in my early teens. What began as curiosity turned into seven years of hands-on work through FluxFrame, a digital services firm I founded and scaled while in school. Over that time, I built products, ran a YouTube channel with over 120,000 subscribers, managed over 200 client projects, and learned how real businesses operate under constraints. Running FluxFrame taught me execution, accountability, and how decisions show up in cash flow, not theory.
My pivot into finance came through exposure, not abstraction. Competing in the TD Securities M&A Challenge was the inflection point. Working through transaction analysis under pressure showed me where my strengths actually were. I realized I was most engaged when valuing businesses, stress-testing assumptions, and making decisions with incomplete information. That experience led me to make a deliberate choice to step away from entrepreneurship (for the time being), and fully commit to finance.
Since then, I have focused on valuation, strategy, and capital allocation, with a strong emphasis on energy and oil and gas. I have built NAV models, worked through LBO and liquidation cases, and competed at the highest level in intercollegiate finance competitions. I placed Top 3 internationally at the Inter-Collegiate Business Competition after extensive preparation across M&A, natural resources, and special situations.
Professionally, I have worked at Cenovus Energy, supporting downstream commercial analysis, valuation, benchmarking, and executive-level reporting. Alongside this, I have held leadership roles in student investment organizations, serving as President and effectively acting as COO for one of our school funds, overseeing analysts, guiding investment theses, and driving execution across multiple sectors.
This site is a record of that progression.
